Based in Zurich, Switzerland, I edit and translate work for academics, researchers, museums, NGOs, foundations and companies. In addition to Bartmess Editing, I also work as the English editor for the history and theory of architecture at the ETH gta Verlag and teach English as a foreign language at the ZHAW (Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften).
My interest in languages and dialects emerged from my upbringing in the American South as a Swiss national. This interest motivated my undergraduate linguistics studies and a minor in Arabic. Studying geography at the masters and doctoral levels allowed me to explore the complexity of environmental and political topics in the Middle East and Southeast Asia and broaden my language skills to include Indonesian/Malay.
